The Kappa Omicron Tau (KOT) Division is the College Guidance Group of the National Sorority of Phi Delta Kappa, Inc.

 

KOT HISTORY

Kappa Omicron Tau (KOT) Division originated from the formation of Junior Teachers Clubs at the 1942 Indianapolis, IN Conclave. This idea was conceived by Soror Gertrude Robinson.  Under the active leadership of Soror Annabell Scarbrough, Alpha Lambda Chapter in Norfolk, VA, standardized procedures for organizing KOT were initiated and a pin, membership card, and certificate were designed.  For the Far Western Region, KOTs were organized in 1969 by Soror Miriam Canty at the Third Far Western Regional Conference in Los Angeles, California.

PURPOSE

• To interest more women in training for a teaching career or other related educational career.

• To have the College Guidance Program become operative in the college life of these women.

• To expand the knowledge of and interest in the philosophy of the National Sorority of Phi Delta Kappa, Inc.

 

Members of KOT may become members of NSPDK upon graduation and entering the teaching profession.
